The Scratch are a band with no qualms about mining as many early 90s lad rock clichés as they can muster. If you yearn for the days when Primal Scream and the Happy Mondays ruled the roost then you might appreciate this but then again, what’s the point in listening to a second-rate rehash when you could just listen to the originals?
Songs like ‘Brainstorm’ and ‘X-Ray Eyes’ do have a certain retro charm but they’re sorely lacking in any spark of originality. Maybe when the inevitable Britpop revival happens The Scratch will find favor, but on musical merit alone there’s not much to get excited about.
