The Pickups

Genuinely nice New Zealand gents get round to releasing their debut album after 3 years popping in
and out the studio. Clocking in at 23 tracks including scores of demos and live versions, you have to cringe when you realize they shouldn’t have bothered. The trio aim to resurrect the spirit of the 60s but you get the feeling that if they’d spent half the time they have listening to music actually learning how to write songs and play in time they might have made it a little farther. Shame really.
