It does feature slightly mannered vocals but on the title track it’s a mix of light and shade as a rattling drumbeat soundtracks a tale of woe – “You were alive and I was a ghost,” goes the refrain before the whole effort bursts into life and and the light at the end of the tunnel advances at speed. Chugging along like Biffy on a rollercoaster with the Wedding Present loosening the bolts on the big dip, ‘Dance Party’ features a searing guitar like The Edge with a bad attitude and a new distortion box. Music that will make girls dance, assuming the dark Editors-like themes can get them out of the darkened corners of the goth club.
