With their bouncy indie release, ‘Rain Down’, The Brouhaha unleash the energy. It’s a track with many strings to its bow, and it stands out because of its exciting colours and textures.
The British ensemble, based in the South, clearly enjoy their work, and their love for music is visible in every aspect of this performance. Furthermore, it is evident from the start that they are here to enjoy producing music rather than writing music only for the sake of landing a large deal, though they would almost certainly not turn one down. Instead, they combine aspects that they wholeheartedly appreciate, and their ability to avoid conformity allows them to produce a sound that is difficult to compare to anything else.
A jangly guitar lead opens the door in the overture, with a dramatic diatonic guitar joining the mix some while after. Following the intro, the drums burst forth, propelling the track onward and increasing the speed with a foot-tapping cadence. When Callum’s vocals appear, he adds further indent to the encounter, smashing through his performance with intensity!
The track flows with charisma, albeit the structure can be a little overpowering at times, with it one moment delving down one path before abruptly redirecting into another. Although it is challenging to keep up with the band’s direction, it is refreshing and prevents any predictability from building.
