Ten To Never are a slow-grower in more ways than one. The opening track of this debut EP, ‘ Supernovae And Spiderwebs’, takes over two minutes to get going, and for once that isn’t a case of critical exaggeration: the song literally doesn’t begin for over two minutes, leaving your finger twitching impatiently over the fast-forward button. Is it worth the wait? Almost. These four tracks showcase some intelligent alt-rock, but in the end it’s nothing that hasn’t been done a hundred times before by the likes of Soundgarden or the John Butler Trio, and generally done much better. If they stick with it then there could be great things ahead, but for the moment Ten To Never sound just a bit too derivative to cause much excitement.
