The Fall, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Pixies. These are the bands you can hear that have influenced this new Aussie act and proof that Teenager are one of the coolest bands of 2007. While the lo-fi vocals, pounding bass-lines and trippy guitar sounds are evident throughout the album, Teenager are by no means a one trick pony as they confidently change from upbeat disco punk to down-tempo shoegazing stylings. Although the record sounds like it was recorded on a low budget, the production is ideal for the music the band make with the songs never sounding crowded. Electronic melodies are sprinkled throughout the record giving it a glistening charm. More female vocals from guitarist Pip would be nice next time but for now, Teenager can be proud in the knowledge that they have made an impressive debut.
