Judas or Rebel is the debut album from Glasgow-based band Stonesthrow.
It includes some undeniably good rock tracks and it still has that raw sound of a live performance.
A lot of effort was put into the album to ensure it was a perfect representation of the band and that is evident in throughout the entire album.
Songs such as ‘Stand to Lose’, ‘I’m Ready’ and ‘Where Do You Go Now?’ really stand out among others.
‘I’m Ready’ is an easy song to pick up and gets stuck in your head almost instantly. It doesn’t help that the upbeat guitars are irresistibly catchy.
Vocalist Derek Murray’s voice on ‘Stand to Lose’ is really great and lead guitar player, Andy Murray broke his guitar during the recording of this song, leaving it with a unique sound.
The acoustic guitar and electric guitar compliment each other nicely on ‘Where Do You Go Now?’ and it’s one of the slower songs on the album.
Overall, Judas or Rebel is a great first album and if Stonesthrow keep making music as good as this, then they’ll be around for a long time.
This is one album that’s definitely worth a listen.
