During lockdown, Honeyblood’s Stina has been busy doing livestream solo shows but this new single indicates a slightly new direction, the guitar lower in the mix and some good old analogue synth to the fore. Is it the prelude to further material in this direction, who knows, there is an EP due later this year…
It may be a song of regret (“I thought we were golden”) but the electronic percussion and the guitar lines are simple but direct, and very poppy, recalling probably Soft Cell at their best and most stripped down. The voice and overall vibe is still very much her own, and it is well worth a listen…
