Based in Edinburgh, Stephen McLaren has been making soulful, atmospheric music for a few years now and this latest track (from his current album ‘They Don’t Put Any Money In Your Pocket’) continues in a similar vein.
Piano-led, with electronic backing and McLaren’s mournful, yearning vocal high in the mix, this tells of bad times, emotional breakdowns among mundane references to recycling bins – an affecting piece which successfully walks the line between electro acts like The Pet Shop Boys and rockier elements reminiscent of early Glasvegas.
