Sound of Yell / Sensory Illusions

This was an excellent evening’s entertainment, starting with some highly eccentric and entertaining instrumentals from Bill Wells (on guitar) and Danielle Price (tuba) playing as The Sensory Illusions. Great tunes, unusual sounds and virtuoso playing!

The main event was Sound of Yell (aka Stevie Jones)’s album launch, where he played (with a collective of seven other musicians) tracks from the new release ‘Leapling’ plus some old favourites. Jones has been at this for a while now, including serving time in El Hombre Trajeado, but he consistently honed his sound to make some unique (mainly instrumental) landscapes featuring mainly acoustic backing.

Along with Stevie on guitar there were drums, fiddles, various woodwind and several other more unusual sound effects.

It made for a very satisfying listen, and was mixed to perfection by Jer Reid at the controls.

Sound of Yell haven’t done a huge amount live in recent years and the music deserves to be heard so BM hopes he takes the album out to a few more venues in the course of the year.
