Now that new-folk is en vogue I guess it’ll be OK if I grab my John Fahey records from the dusty attic. Once upon a time solo guitar was seen as the way forward and the afore-mentioned deranged yank stood at the forefront of an entire industry. Following in his illustrious footsteps is this young string strummer, who gives a fine display of Americana. It’s all very nice, and there is some finger lickin’ pickin’ going on here, but without the mystical jargon of Fahey what are you left with? One for the guitar shop muso, appealing to the fingers but not the average pair of ears, sadly.
