The single ‘NAL’ boasts lots of energy but ultimately feels too one-dimensional to really demand attention. What it really feels like is a dim reflection of the live experience. The guitars are a bit murky even on Scrap Brain’s own scuzz-fuzz rock terms. The energy that’s clearly somewhere in the studio never quite makes it through your speakers. As for ‘I Want You…’, it runs at a slower pace and is served a bit better by the production murk. The lyrics are something of a letdown, despite the expanded field of sonic dynamic. Again, you get the feeling your missing something with the recorded track. Not a band for “singles” I’d think.
