This is four minutes inside one man’s head. It’s as though you’re having an intimate bit of banter with the man.
It makes you feel a wee bit sad on one chord and makes you laugh on the next. It’s got a real bluesy feel to it as well, a bit Jeff Buckley and John Martyn-ish. Scott Lavene has the vocal sweetness of the former without any of the self-centredness or angst or whiny self-indulgence of the latter.
This is friendly music that manages to convey a simple message of life experience and opinion. It also does that thing which all great songs should do – it opens your eyes and gives you a different view upon the world.
