With this new six-track mini album from the band that all the punk kids are talking about, Somerset quartet Run From Robots take punk rock to a new level. Fusing all the essential elements of America’s finest in punk with the raw aggression of the British punk scene of the seventies, the band have created something which seems to bridge the gap between these two generations and then burns it down again just for the hell of it. Opener ‘Red Rocket’ instantly introduces the band’s raw fast-paced energy which is something their live shows are renowned for. With crunching guitars, pounding drums, aggressive vocals and enough distortion and feedback to make ears bleed, the tracks continue in the same raw, messy fashion, bouncing off of each other like the violent mosh pits they would no doubt inspire. At times, the vocals seem a little rehearsed and even forced but the passion still shines through as Tom dares us to “Jump around like nobody is watching you”. The tracks do merge together in their similarity but ‘Sorry You Don’t Love Us’ is still definitely worth a listen, especially for fans of hardcore punk.
