Golden Lover / Go Without (Lost Map)

By • Jul 1st, 2019 • Category: Single review

This looks like a double although ‘Go Without’ appears to be the lead track – but doesn’t matter, both tracks are fab.

These are both big tunes, open and catchy – electronic keyboards and pounding bass – ‘Go Without’ has baritone echoed vocals, great delivery, somewhere between 80s bombast and something rather new, a wee bit psychedelic maybe, with some great tempo changes.

Is it a breakup song – whatever it is, it is a great introduction to a major new talent, and a great party tuuune besides…

‘Golden Lover’ is if anything more mental, a ridiculous backing track and Romeo singing about goodness knows what – the sound of the summer, some disco beats and almost maybe TomTom Club beats and also Franz at their most funky and commercial…

What a glorious release, on the mighty Lost Map – BM also now realises that she spoke to RT in the bogs at the Hug a few weeks ago – he said something like “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet”… looks like he was probably correct!
