This is an album which sounds like it has been a lifetime in the making. While such a description may make it sound like it’s going to be heavy-going, it’s actually a very life-affirming album, peppered with childhood thoughts and memories, vividly conjured up by Karijord’s engaging voice and haunting melodies. Everyone who listens to it will have a wee smile as they see or hear something and then find something within their own personal history to relate it to.
The album was set in motion by lyrics left to Karijord by her late father. The songs have the feel of a journey, of having each been very carefully placed to take you another step along the way. It’s friendly music, akin to Beth Orton, or early Carly Simon, having the truth of the former and the wry humour of the latter. A treasure well worth seeking out.
