It’s a quiet and delicate guitar intro redolent of ‘Street Spirit’ or some Steve Hackett, but ‘Meridian’s slow build offers more than such disdainful comparisons – even if its mid-period breakdown puts this writer in mind of ‘Smash It Up (Part 1)’.
This Edinburgh shoegaze duo have been producing eminently listenable, largely instrumental stuff for a few years now and but their latest effort takes things into the post rock realm further. Developing into a nice wigout of controlled noise, this latest single, despite topping six minutes, doesn’t outstay its welcome and ultimately finds its own identity.
