Port Sulphur

Olive Avenue / Green Wave (Creeping Bent)

By • Sep 6th, 2020 • Category: Single review

The multi-member supergroup helmed by Creeping Bent supremo Douglas Macintyre has rather come up trumps again.

The ‘collective’ encompasses the likes of local legends Davy Henderson and James Kirk as well as the likes of Suicide’s Alan Vega, and this track – though not featuring every one of those acts – somehow sees them rub off on a sound which is all ’60s girl-group pop, electro, and Postcard guitar jangle.

Vocals this time are supplied by Jay Stansfield, lately of TransElement, and the dreampop is summed up with his line “theres’ a far-away look in your eyes”. Oh, and the b-side sees former Casual Sex mainman Samuel J Smith resurface for what may be a twangy detective theme channeled through some long-forgotten Scottish post-rock tune.

And, it’s a free download as well!
