Like most new releases, this album was meant to be played live in all sorts of places, but that is now on hold, obviously, and BM’s heart goes oot to Pictish and all these other artists who were counting on sales from live appearances, festivals etc…
And this is such a great album – his first for a wee while, containing 10 tracks of eccentric but melodic music, starting with ‘Repeat Neverending’, which really screws with effects, at least at first, and is a great opener…
High points include ‘Double-Sided’, which is great… The BeeGees vs The Beta Band, or something – masterful…
Lead single ‘Bad Algebra’ is a killer – and a massive wigout – which has to be heard to be believed…
The overall vibe is… wonderful. Pictish Trail is still pioneering weird music in 2020, and the world needs this badly… so live shows or not, please keep doing this, Johnny…
