Another preview from the forthcoming Pictish Trail album due in March, this track mixes glitch electronica with vocals concerning existential death and other dark subjects.
Johnny Lynch (aka Pictish) appears to be referencing the downside of partying, when it all goes wrong – BM is not entirely sure, but the track has lots of melody, some great electronic sounds and some self-searching lyrics which may defy interpretation… There are apologies to someone, only he knows who that is, but they loom large in this track..
There are definitely shades here of previous collaborator Malcolm Middleton, in the East Coast (of Scotland) accented harmonies – great instrumental backing as well, quite different to his previous work.
The album, when it comes out, has already got a clutch of great tracks and this is one more – but a reminder that PC is not always about the upbeat, and this may be his most vulnerable track yet…
