Yoko Ono EP (PJ)

By • Apr 5th, 2020 • Category: Single review

This a great EP – witty, edgy and strummy, all good things in BM’s wee book…

Track one ‘Yoko Ono’ gives us some wise words via Half Man Half Biscuit, The Just Joans and the Hector Collectors, all good influences… it is a great track, with loads of awkward Beatles references… such fun…

The rest of the EP continues in the same vein, and it is well good… ‘My Cup of Tea’ has some Malcolm Middleton tropes, and some serious guitar work – “jaffa cakes and ecstasy” is a great line for a love song…

‘Lobster’ is just surreal and wonderful… into the word is malapropisms, punning words and very clever, a lament…

And then ‘Oil Industry’, envious of another guy, or maybe just mocking the other guy – there are a lot of memories as well, see above references – another great track though…

BM is pretty gutted for PJ that the album launch did not happen at the Glad due to “girlfriend with cornona” (ok it is pathetic joking about it but you have to keep on keeping on…) and hopes to see him in a live situation asap…
