Apparently this CD has lain undiscovered in the pile for so long that the band concerned have since split up. Which is maybe for the best as what starts promisingly with a fucked-up guitar hook soon loses its way in an Electric 6-style piece of histrionics passing for a vocal, eventually degenerating into a drawn-out piece of guitar-wankery. Actually, ‘Fighting Crime’ is a little better and the stressed-out acoustic tune ‘Bricks and Mortar’ is reminiscent of Steve Harley doing Jacques Brel. Sadly, too little too late. www.thepermissivesociety.co.uk
