As record labels go, Soma are probably one of the most consistent and any release by them is usually worth a listen or two. The ‘Gindofask’ release by Octogen manages to keep the run going and although many will choose not to get into the deepness of the record that inspired its creation; it can be enjoyed as an impressive and imposing body of work. As you would expect, it dips and bends in all the right places
The intro track and following spoken word sections start to grate over repeated listens and the singing sections add little to the tracks but do at least add a separate element to break up the music. The backing track switches between minimal and techno with consummate ease and musically, this is an extremely strong record. Opinions on the vocal content will be all about opinions and many can live without them, whereas some will welcome a bit of light relief. Regardless of that train of thought, this is a largely impressive record that keeps the listener enthralled from start to end.
