This is quite something. An Edinburgh-based three-piece who have some storming melodies, rousing choruses and sophisticated song structures (and yes I did read the press release but not quoting verbatim), they could (and are already) going far.
There’s a bit of something Scandinavian, midway between Mew and Sigur Ros I think, but not to do their sound – that’s pretty original. I’m thinking about the Beta Band when their sound first escaped the room, not the same as this but the same sense of freshness in a world always looking for freshness. I have not researched them on the usual channels but assume they use them and will work their way up the billings to become, possibly the “band of 2010 to watch” in the same way as say the Phantom Band have and are doing.
I will not attempt to describe the songs one by one, let’s just say that after a few plays when Betty was gettin her windows done (no double entrendres my friends, just the fucking windows, not even the widows) today she just want to put it on again, and that is no higher recommendation for recorded music these days.
