This wee English band don’t do a shabby job of indie electro pop with male and female yelping, twisty guitar parts and quirky synths.
But it’s precisely what a bazillion wee Glasgow bands have been doing for around half a decade now. Maybe it’s different in Sheffield, but surely the record industry is already saturated with bands like this finishing off their debut albums?
As achingly over-familiar as the formula sounds though, Navvy are good enough at it not to bore. In fact, they’re good enough to pretty much completely cure my stropping. Clever and catchy without being obtuse or obvious, this record is a charming wee listen – the genre might be pretty full, but hey, I think we can squeeze them in.
