It’s rough and ready, low-fi garage rock on the new single from My Goodness. A-side offering ‘C’mon Doll’ is a tumultuous track, retaining its steady pace until half way through it jumps the train tracks and starts to steer recklessly away. The band batter away in a mess of sound, as the vocals increasingly become harder and harder to follow, like the very train that’s lost control. Things start to slow again before the track wraps itself up nicely.
The lowly B-side in this case is the quiet, reflective ‘Lost In The Soul’. Here, the lo-fi production works wonders and the usually hastily included off cut makes a better impression than the A-side that we were presented with. The problems faced by the production on ‘C’mon Doll’ are nowhere to be seen here. It just goes to show what this single could’ve been.
