Sadly, I was too young to fully appreciate the Smiths at their peak, however I have been a huge fan of Morrissey ever since I heard ‘Suedehead’ on an early Now collection. Although never quite able to recapture the glory of the Smiths, he has produced two outstanding solo albums (‘Vauxhall and I’ and ‘You Are The Quarry’), but there have also been a number of albums varying from poor to slightly less poor. ‘That’s How People Grow Up’ is the taster single for his new greatest hits package, and contains typical Mozisms such as “there are things in life worse than not being someone’s sweetie”. Although it takes a few listens to appreciate fully, and despite not quite living up to his previous work, this is still a cracking single.
