When it comes to combining funk with angst, this latest single from Mojo Fury gets the mix just right. With a complex rhythm that keeps the listener guessing, coupled with shouty vocals and guitars twanging and ringing all over, ‘Colour of the Bear’ will have you wanting to dance while punching the air with fury at the same time.
The psychedelic breakdown is a nice change, contrasting with the sheer power of the track, dabbling with flange effects during the build up to the last chorus. An acoustic version of the band’s single ‘The Mann’ is given as the b-side and offers the track with a much simpler, intimate approach. It has a bit of a Nirvana MTV Unplugged vibe about it which is a great contrast to the original version.
