Filled with energy, life and joy, Moira Stewart could well be the answer to every hyper-sexed female’s dreams.
With more pink, fluffy, cutesy references than you can shake a stick at, from the cuddly animals on the album cover, to tracks such as ‘The Mr Men Groove’ and ‘Sprinkle Glitter On My Heart’, it is almost as if an eight year old girl was allowed to create a band, and Moira Stewart are the result.
However, this whole shtick only add to the group’s simple charms as their debut album forces a smile on your face with its upbeat and uplifting songs. Keyboard melodies, sounding like they’ve come straight out of an 80s computer game are backed by wholesome guitars and bubbly vocals, the sonic equivalent of The Postal Service colliding with New Order and a lorry load of Prozac to boot.
Even the more serious offerings such as ‘In The Kitchen’ and ‘Love Drops’ still seem effortlessly playful as they sit aside hyperactive, body shaking pop songs, bursting with rays of sunshine and joy. Prepare to hear this album everywhere, very soon.
