From a simple opening, ‘Lemonade’ is easy enough to listen to, growing steadily more and more enjoyable as the track progresses. The track is unusual and yet catchy, putting an involuntarily smile on your face once you’ve got past the slightly oddball vocals provided by Barry MacLean. His quirky and quivering voice may take a bit of getting used to but sticking with it is well worth it. The something a little bit different is just so right.
“I’m going to stick with lemonade” – if you’ll pardon the pun, leads into the refreshing chorus. Indeed the band have done well to keep it more refreshing still with a track that isn’t about love and heartbreak, which let’s admit, has been done to death. They sing about something that can be taken on face value and as a result you can listen to again and again, guilt free.
‘Lip Synch’ is another hit for the Miniature Dinosaurs, with an infectious feel, something a band should always aim for. In fact, the four tracks are so infectious yet simple, it’s exactly what makes them so great.
The band effortlessly encompasses the professional and mature vibe that always seems to accompany Scots bands. With the addition of a killer bass line throughout the EP, these guys could have easily been around for years.
