This is like a patchwork of all your favourite tunes with some new space-age groove thrown in too. It’s one of these records that brings the light into a room every time it goes under the laser. A big orange record, in other words, one with which you can bond and relate to immediately upon hearing it and then love it all the more. There’s a very arch, knowing and almost naughty sense of humour going on here as well, which helps matters greatly.
Far too many records in the electronic genre these days take themselves far too seriously and this disc is all the better for being lighter. This makes the Alkomatic EP one of those rare records which is as much at home on the dancefloors of the UK’s club fraternity as it is when you’ve just got a few friends around and the alcohol is flowing freely.
