The Man Without Machine fairly tampers with these tracks, and it is quite astonishing! And fair play to Grand Gestures mainman Jan Burnett for offering them up…
First up is ‘Playing The Games’, which gives the original track (Celie Byrne and Calamity Horse) an electronic sheen and pumping backbeat, emphasising how good the original track was, and then some!
Next, he adds some Human League-esque keyboard to Grahame Skinner’s ‘Poster Boy’ and my God is it good, again fair play to Skinner to allowing to this retampering, it is well worth it and Skinner’s vocals sound probably even better with this backdrop – wow!
The last track on the EP is a remix of Andrew Howie’s ‘Baiting’ – and the results are again great – given heavy electronic beats, the vocals are spot on – and the song sounds even better.
This was altogether a great idea, and perhaps could work live in future, if the mysterious “Man Without Machines” is reading – he know who he is!
