Louise Henry’s soulful vocals and the Glasgow group’s clear desire to make listeners do some retro grooving are evident throughout their songs. With so many female dominated pop/rock acts (Noisettes, La Roux) taking over the airwaves their timing is perfect. Throughout the verses the guitars and rapid drum beats are kept to a minimum to let the lyrics breath, building up the funk for the choruses. ‘Baby Blue’ is retro with a bit of attitude and the best of the tracks on the EP, which also includes ‘Fortune Man’ and ‘On a Saturday Night’. However, it seems to be lacking something. The hooks are there but the feel good element they aim for isn’t quite, it’s a little cold and one dimensional which is a shame given Louise’s potentially diva-esque voice.
