This most recent Lonehead release is the lead track from their second album, due later this year, following last October’s single ‘Swimming Upstream‘.
The band have a bit of pedigree in the Glasgow music scene and comprise singer/bassist Martin Jenkins, guitarist Jim Keilt – former guitarist with The Look and John Otway – and Mark Brown, ex-Cosmic Rough Riders drummer.
The track itself sounds to these ears more powerpop than indie, nothing wrong with that though… At just under 3 minutes, it is brash, confident and has some pretty nifty guitar licks and timing. Lead vocals are strident, the backline is powerful and it reeks of gallusness…
In fact it probably reminds BM more of SAHB than anything else, praise indeed… There’s a real feeling of the rock of ages, “a man with a plan” and the rest – this could well blow up commercially if it gets the right radio promotion etc – certainly these guys could be going places if the rest of the album is anything like as good as this salute to mainstream, tuneful rock music!
