Lizzie Reid is Glasgow-based and her latest single release is the first track on her forthcoming EP, entitled ‘Mooching’.
It is an intimate song, played on the piano and produced by Oliver Barton-Wood, who leaves in a lot of the creaking noises made by the piano, giving the overall effect of feeling like it was recorded on a creaky boat, or something.
The lyrics are heartfelt and not exactly upbeat, but the track feels like a form of catharsis. It also has a timeless quality which done not place it in any particular genre or scene – possibly a bit of the Joni Mitchell in there but overall highly original.
Highly recommended.
