Life Model are happening, tonight as a five piece, and they played around a half an hour of pure noisepop bliss. There were some recognisable tunes like ‘Real Estate’ and closer ‘Walking Backwards’ but the first savlo was all new to BM, at least.
There were shades of Britpop (Elastica, the Boo Radleys), i.e. the good stuff plus a substantial dose of Lush and in one track some definite MBV, all much appreciated. That is not to say that this band is derivative, just that they make a massive guitar racket with some artful vocals and eccentric guitar tunings…
Everyone on the stage tonight was fantastic, all great players and working together – and when that surge of pure pop noise came over the Mono soundsystem it was well worth turning up for – and there was a fair audience to hear it as well.
The hookup with LNFG will hopefully allow them to expand on these ideas and BM for one thinks they have a pretty good future ahead of them…
