Eschewing advancement, over-attention to detail or any pretence at sophistication, Leapfrogtown instead play short, hard and simple guitar pop.
They’ve got things to say (or rather, tunefully sneer) about those around us (you know who I’m talking about) who would do anything to be part of the in-crowd. If they have any forefathers, it is The Police and The Undertones in their gloriously messy 70s youth.
The two vocalists’ voices gel beautifully, as both have very Amerophile undertones (no pun intended).
They are ably backed by overexcited guitar work which positively pounces out of the speakers at you. With this to boast of, Leapfrogtown are truly one of the brightest sparks on the current bonfire of UK pop.
