Most interesting… after an acclaimed first album (the great ‘Kipple Arcadia’), Glasgow’s L -Space have taken a sideways step, floating away into space with a series of themes from a city of the future that doesn’t yet exist. BM strongly suspects this will have to be somewhere out in space as we are currently doing such a great job of fucking up our own planet but that may just be a personal view…
So in the press release there are namechecks for Goreki, (Beth Gibbons has just released Symphony No 3 album, it was a big hit back in the day…) but BM is afraid that despite all core family members heavily into classical it kinda sends her to sleep most years when the annual RSNO birthday present for my dad comes around – sorry, it is far better than that but a short attention plan and addiction to pop music are the twin causes…
Nothing wrong with a bit of classical although this stuff is more like a film score (and many great people have transferred to that, from Tangerine Dream to David Holmes).
The music (20 tracks in all) actually sounds great – futuristic and cool – intricate synth sounds dominate and the production is very tight – have to say that BM is really impressed and would be very interested for a live rendition of this music…
The themes of work, robotic tasks, and the disconnect of technology are rammed home in a subtle manner – this is just such a great soundtrack to doing the ironing, or even watching Bladerunner…
A very interesting development from a very interesting band…
