A demo recording of better than average standard. It’s a sparse affair with just Kyle Cuthbert’s vocals and acoustic guitar guiding us through two mellow folky campfire tracks that will never be judged as singalongs. He manages to keep the interest with some very proficient guitarwork and sounds like a very unplugged minor-key Snow Patrol, even managing to sound like Gary Lightbody in passages.
It’s often difficult to separate the exponents of this singer songwriter genre from one another with so much depending on the song. Here neither ‘Magic Farmer’ or ‘Lunar Lake’ are overly memorable but when played and sung with such apparent passion they do take hold a little bit. A few listens needed though.
