Having only been at it for a mere 12 months, Kill It Kid belie their woeful monicker and craft a commendable blast of wrong-handed blues folk. ‘Send Me An Angel Down’ is a misty-eyed and impassioned slice of frustrated sentiment, tucked snugly inside Kill It Kid’s majestically ramshackle bucket of tumbledown bliss.
Sedate strings tussle dreamily with melodic keys and slide guitar as the track works itself up into a right ballsy little stomp, before coming to a thunderous climax and strutting off into the sunset with a lilting swoon. B-Side ‘Date It The Day’ repeats the trick, flitting out the speakers on a fleet-footed romp that clatters along atop several layers of buzzing, whiskey-soaked funk. A precursor to their hotly-tipped debut album, ‘Send Me An Angel Down’ should see Kill It Kid continue their speedy ascent. Good.
