Jamie Strachan is a West of Scotland-based singer/songwriter who has been ploughing a somewhat lonely furrow these past few years, and this is a track from a couple of years ago.
Jamie is honest in the track about his struggles with mental health issues and actually the overall sound and vibe recalls some of Malcolm Middleton’s solo work, deadpan but also deadly serious (“the day is young but I feel old”, “I am lost on my own”), although some light does shine though.
It is not easy writing and singing about these things but the phrases (“these anxieties are controlling me”) and language Jamie uses are very relatable (“half of the time I’m not myself”) and the tune isn’t half bad either.
