Mark McGhee has been shaking it up for a few years now with Girobabies and other projects/collabs but this Jackal Trades moniker could herald be his best work yet. There are shades of Cypress Hill, other doomy rap here… the vocals are incredible, mixing righteous rapping with ridiculous references – “regulars-only shit”. The bass is set loud, “Jack” gets a bit of a verbal doing from another vocalist but my god, with overlay of female vocals we get to the resounding climax, ‘The House…’ … there are other soundtrack and horror movie tropes as well – this is just a taster for the album, which is BM’s opinion could be one of the best of the year.
