Prog rock group Instant Curtain take us on a journey with their new release, ‘Reverse In The Sand’.
The gem is from their most recent album, ‘Let Tear Us Apart,’ which the group delivered this year.
‘Reverse In The Sand’ starts with an experimental intro with the band showing off their infallible prowess. The guitar lead from Giuseppe gets the majority of the limelight in the opening section with its delicious tone. But, delve more profound, and it is evident that the drummer has a few tricks up his sleeve. Furthermore, the pattern within his rhythm is innovative and unique when comparing it to other drummers in the same space.
Lead singer Massimo Gerini also adopts a fresh approach in current times, although not dissimilar to the techniques used by many previous decades. He has a warm tone which appears to be influenced by trends set in the 1960s. So much so, isolate his vocal, and it would be challenging not to place his vocals on a psychedelic 60s shelf. But, he does not sound out of place; instead, he affixes the compelling soundscape which the foundation provides.
Even more magic occurs as the track is coming to its closing section. At one point, it appears that the track has already got through enough activity. But, after a short pause from the group, the guitar rhythms head into a new area, and they rip through the speakers with captivating flair. Likewise, Massimo grips once again with his closing vocal delivery.
