It might be just me, but I have a problem with musicians who, when speaking about their music and its role, put too much emphasis on the maybe difficult circumstances of their life. Does it matter to me that Indiana Gregg underwent speech therapy when she was young? That her husband left her? That music helped her to emotionally deal with it all? What would matter would be to see if her music was actually able to transmit such a kind of sincere and genuine emotion, but, despite its soulful guise, it completely fails to do so – what Indiana Gregg sings about on her album Woman at Work, released on gr8 pop, and how she sings about it, we have heard at least three million times. If this album might not cause as much of an allergic reaction with everyone as it has caused with me, I’d still suppose that the striking majority of the itm? readers wouldn’t exactly feel uplifted by it.
