This is a well overdue review, like some six months or so…apologies to GWR because this is really worth the listen…
This Glasgow-based act released a double A-side track released last year in time for Hallowe’en – this is an epic slice of instrumental music.
‘Atom Heart MF’ grinds through the gears in a furious Mogwai meets Blanck Mass way, but it is very original – the tropes of film music are there, and there are some eldritch vocal samples as well… This should have been one of BM’s tracks of last year, just now getting round to it.
‘Hallowe’en Theme’ starts with some incredible acoustic guitar flourishes and continues with electronic overtones, spooky in the extreme – a really good rendering of a classic theme. It works itself up to some instrumental climaxes and furnishes further guile to the original – a very good interpretation, and then some.
BM hope that GWR will continue to release stuff as this is gold material!
