Remixed albums can be a hit or miss, and this one sells itself as a mainstay for Miami and Ibiza pool side listening. Diskoism does achieve the level of chilled out compilation CD, and despite the remixed artists being relatively unknown it is a decent listen. Nordic cool seems to be the new black (Royksopp, Ida Maria, Abba…okay mabye not Abba) and Norwegians Kare Frisvold and Rune Lindbaek have slapped a chunk of funk and groove onto tracks such as blissed out ‘The Bridge’ by The New Wine, and ‘I Wish For You by’ Holly Heckler, all given their personal Norweign stamp.
The Beatservice Records label mates lend their skills well to each diverse track. The album wont pack dancefloors but it’s when working with great base tracks such as ‘All Of The Above’ from psychedelic disco rock outfit The Phenomenal Handclap Band, that Frisvold & Lindbaek’s spaced out makeover comes into its own. Featherlight, trancey ‘Afterglow’ by Kurt Maloo is another etheral album highlight perfect for a summers day on the White Isle’s sunset strip. Slap it on to assist your comedown and have a relaxing afternoon.
