Sounding like they’ve just stepped out of a time machine from the 80s, Glasgow four-piece Fiction Faction fuse indie and electronica with a proper 80s twist. With their unusual use of vocals and synths, the band have a sort of new romantics vibe with elements of The Smiths and The Cure but with a wholly contemporary and far more flamboyant and poppy approach.
On some tracks, such as ‘A Lot Can Happen On A Summer’s Day’, the guitar can sound a little bit psychedelic showing the band to have a pretty dynamic style. The third track, ‘Apparitions’ remixed by Miaoux Miaoux, shows good creative use of samples, proving that the band’s tracks are great remix material whilst final track ‘Harmonising The Grateful’ brings back that Cure influence from before, with bizarre vocals giving it (and the EP as a whole) a unique character and pizazz.
