Malicious (Video premiere)

By • Mar 27th, 2019 • Category: Feature

Here at itm? we’re proud to premiere the latest video from Fenella – ‘Malicious’.

The single from the duo – Mairi Whittle (vocals) and Jack Boyce (guitars / piano) – is is taken from the debut album ‘A Gift From Midnight’, recorded with Samuel Joseph Smith at Green Door Studios.

They met while studying in Glasgow, bonding, we’re told, over a shared love of Elektra Records output (Love / Nico / The Doors), allied with outre artists from that period (The Velvet Underground / Tim Buckley) along with artists from jazz and European cabaret.

Early singles were released on Little Tiger Records, a label run by students from Riverside Music College in Busby under the auspices of lecturer and Creeping Bent supremo Douglas MacIntyre. Fenella subsequently received airplay on BBC 6Music and BBC Radio Scotland, as well as on is this music?’s own webradio show.

They have now signed with Little Tiger in conjunction with Last Night from Glasgow – a crowd-funded label which sees 100% of all profits from releases going to its artists.

Fenella launch debut album ‘A Gift From Midnight’ at the Blue Arrow Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street, on Friday 29th March 2019. Guests are fellow Little Tiger act The Plastic Youth – whose single ‘Comfort’ is currently out on Little Tiger – performing a special acoustic show.
