A new track from this East of Scotland (i.e. Leith) based combo, follow up to the excellent ‘Means’ single and a precursor to an album this year.
Errant Boy are a three piece pop outfit. This is a melodic but brittle little ditty with some stylish guitar, this has echoes of Postcard (OJ and also The Go-Betweens) as well as janglers The Blue Aeroplanes. The track is high tempo, Rickenbacker and vocals to the fore, with a nice, almost bossanova drum backing them up.
The arch and mannered vocal is a bit wonky and there is a hint of sinister goings-on in between the upbeat couplets. There is a great guitar solo towards the end and then it just stops at a bit over 3 mins, done and dusted. Nifty and BM hopes to hear and see more of this lot in 2018.
