Ejectorseat have a bit of a paint-by-numbers indie-rock sound, with a dash of emo-angst thrown in for good measure. But there’s an unexpected charm to it all. The Southampton boys met at school and formed Ejectorseat a few years later and this is part of a trio of singles / EPs to be released this year.
‘She’s Not My Girl’ is about that girl that you stupidly let slip away. The shouty, rousing chorus of ‘She’s not my girl anymore’ is delicately off-set with a softer lyrical confession of “I know I’m weak… I know I’m useless… I am lost”. It’s all rather affecting.
When twee indie-rock is done right it can sound like a perfectly formed guilty pop gem. This is a snappy, urgent tune, with just the right amount of soppiness.
